Whale shark regulations apply equally to all companies: limited time in the area, a maximum of 5 people in the water at once, and controlled time spent with each shark. Whether a boat has 4 or 30 guests, the rules are the same. When groups are larger than 5, they must be divided into 2–3 rotations so everyone gets a turn to swim. It’s important to note that in larger groups (as operated by some other companies), time in the water is more limited because everyone must take turns. This means you often wait longer for your rotation, reducing the actual time each person gets to swim with the whale sharks.
Whale shark encounters can vary, sometimes they swim slowly or feed in one spot, and other times they move fast. For this reason, smaller groups are strongly recommended, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. With fewer people, you guarantee more time in the water and a calmer, more personalized experience.
Our tours may be priced differently than others: small groups, careful group management, quality equipment, a well-prepared boat, and a fully certified crew. While all captains and guides must be certified by the authorities, our guides are Divemasters, offering an even higher level of training, safety, and professionalism.

Meeting and Departure at Muelle Fiscal
Meet your crew, check in, sign necessary waivers, and get fitted with snorkel gear. Board the boat and set off into the Bay of La Paz. The boat ride to the whale shark zone takes approximately 20-30 minutes, where you can enjoy views of the coastline.

Find and Swim with the Whale Sharks
The guide will help locate the whale sharks and lead you into the water for an up-close snorkeling experience. Each person will have opportunities to swim with the whale sharks, rotating in small groups to ensure a safe and intimate experience. You’ll spend around 30 minutes to 1 hour in the water, depending on how many whale sharks are in the area and how they are behaving. Between swims, relax on the boat and enjoy snacks and soft-drinks.
